He has traveled the world to learn directly from the greatest minds in the sport, including John Danaher, Firas Zahabi, Georges St-Pierre, Gordon Ryan, and Craig Jones. This relentless pursuit of knowledge ensures that the instruction at Cave Academy is always on the cutting edge, blending the tried-and-true with the new.

Mike's specialty is No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, where he seamlessly integrates techniques from Collegiate Wrestling, Judo, and Submission Grappling. Mike is renowned for his ability to translate complex conceptual and technical instruction into an easy-to-learn format. His classes are always evolving, mixing traditional learning methods with modern science-backed approaches like CLA (Ecological Learning) to design unique drills and games you won’t find anywhere else.

Affectionately known to everyone at the academy as "Papa," Frankie Nuñez is the heart of our community. A 4th Degree Black Belt under the legendary Ralph Gracie, Frankie has been the Head Instructor of Gi Jiu-Jitsu at Cave Academy for over a decade.
